At Nisai, we consistently provide CEFR programs to students worldwide. Since the CEFR program follows global standards, students naturally develop the English proficiency required for international schools, enabling them to aim for higher scores in exams like the Eiken. For example, a third-grade elementary school boy at Nisai (starting English studies from scratch) combined the CEFR program with the Units of Sound program and achieved a perfect score on the Eiken Grade 3 exam after ten months of study.

While Nisai does not offer specific exam preparation for the Eiken, our fully online international school structure ensures that students develop English proficiency to achieve top scores in exams like the Eiken.

About online Eiken preparation course

Units of Sound program ensures the development of listening and reading skills

Listening is required for all grades of Eiken exams. Listening skills are developed by listening to English on a regular basis. You already have Japanese ears. You need to develop your 'English ears' in the same way. The Units of Sound program is a suitable program for this.

言語学習のプロセス

By listening to sounds and mimicking speech, you can improve your listening skills dramatically. The process of language acquisition follows the principle that "being able to understand enables one to speak, and being able to imitate speech allows for more accurate understanding." Additionally, training to connect sounds with written characters is conducted rigorously in international schools, starting from elementary school, much like in Japanese schools. As students develop the ability to connect sounds with written characters, they reach a state where they can understand spelling by listening to words. The training to achieve this ability is condensed within programs like Units of Sound and the CEFR program.

Furthermore, since the CEFR program is entirely in English, you can harness the regular Units of Sound training to the class. Reading skills are necessary across all levels of the Eiken exam grades. Reading and listening skills are closely intertwined.

Strengthening writing skills for passing Eiken exam: CEFR Program

In the first exams of levels Pre-2 (Pre-2, Grade 2, Pre-1, Grade 1), there are writing tasks. In Nisai's CEFR program, in addition to four live lessons per week lasting 30 minutes each, a weekly assignment is given. These assignments involve writing in English, with native instructors providing feedback. Students can have their assignments reviewed directly by teachers from Cambridge International Schools, ensuring high-quality writing training.

Acquiring necessary speaking skills for exams: Group and personal programs

In grades 3, Pre-2, Grade 2, Pre-1, and Grade 1, interviews are required, making speaking skills essential.

Students have the opportunity to have a conversation with Japanese instructors who have extensive overseas experience. Not only students preparing for the Eiken but also those who seek opportunities to express themselves in English, can benefit from this program. It is designed as a platform for daily English learning, where students discuss topics and convey their thoughts, acquiring the "assertion skills" demanded in the global world.

Classes are conducted by Japanese instructors with extensive overseas experience

In this program, Japanese instructors with abundant experience in overseas education, take charge. They conduct discussions in English aligned with the theme and help students acquire the necessary speaking skills for speaking tests. With experienced Japanese instructors leading the training, students receive precise advice and feedback.

A practical setting to demonstrate comprehensive skills gained from Nisai classes

Through the CEFR program, students can demonstrate the comprehensive skills they have acquired in the four areas: knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to convey information. By increasing their speaking experiences, students develop their speaking skills.Conversations are based on real-life situations in daily and societal contexts.

At Nisai, discussions in classes are based on events happening in society. By addressing topics closely related to daily life, we conduct interdisciplinary learning beyond conventional subjects. Similarly, in this program, we train students by discussing issues they are likely to encounter in the future.

Classroom system that fosters four skills

Nisai adopts a classroom system where faces are not visible. It's been observed that learning effectiveness decreases when faces are visible in online education. Moreover, not seeing faces naturally focuses on listening and reading. Writing skills improve as students express themselves in chat.

Speaking skills improve as the three skills of listening, reading, and writing are closely intertwined. Expressing thoughts in chat (text) leads to the development of advanced speaking skills, such as expressing logically in written language. Moreover, the expression becomes more detailed.

Recording and weekly assignments for repeated practice

All live lessons at Nisai are recorded. These recordings can be utilized for learning purposes on days when students cannot attend class or for review. By deepening learning through repetition, English proficiency improves significantly.
